Hudd Byard was born in Memphis, TN and spent most of his childhood in Mississippi. In 2003, Hudd received a BFA from the University of Memphis with a concentration in Graphic Design. Shortly after, he took a job at Gentlemen's Quarterly in New York where he spent the next year learning and exploring his passion for editorial design.

Feeling a return to his roots, Hudd moved back to Memphis to take a job with Contemporary Media. In 2005, he was named Art Director of Memphis Magazine and given the task of redesigning the publication for its 30th anniversary issue. He has been recognized with a silver and gold medal for design and a gold for General Excellence by the City and Regional Magazine Association, a merit from the Society of Publication Designers, a silver medal from the Ozzies, and he has also been recognized in PDN.

He has been published in the Society of Publications Designers Annual, SPD - 40 years of Gold, 1000 Greetings, PDN, as well as other publications.

In 2008, Hudd founded Hudd Byard Design in Millington, TN, where he continues to create editorial designs as well as, books, posters, catalogues, websites, and identities.
